The best robotic pool cleaners bring some of the skills that make robot vacuums so popular, and repurpose them to your swimming pool. More and more people are coming around to this marriage of convenience and smart tech. Naturally, if you’ve got a swimming pool out back, you know how much work the upkeep on one of those can be, but thankfully robotic pool cleaners are here to help.

Robotic pool cleaners like the Dolphin Premier (available at Amazon) make it easy to clean above- and in-ground pools, traversing pool surfaces, floors, and walls with a set of rubber treads. A built-in filtration system collects dirt and debris, algae, and even leaves—so cleaning your pool will never be the same. The Premier advertises a cleaning time of about three hours.

These are some of the best pool vacuum robots on the market so far. Let them lead you to a cleaner pool.

Dolphin Premier Robotic Pool Cleaner

The Dolphin Premier self-propelled robotic pool cleaner will make pool owners happy with its 60-foot hose length, single-button operation, and multiple filter options. It promises exceptional cleaning power, with cartridges for ultra-fine filtration (for bacteria and such), tiny debris, and even fallen leaves.

It’s got a weekly scheduled-cleaning feature that cleans a 50-foot pool in about three hours (or 90 minutes for a round pool half that size). There’s an optional remote control for it, along with an indicator light to let you know when the filter cartridge is full.

Pros

  • Wall-climbing capabilities

  • Optional remote control

  • 3 filtration options

Cons

  • Pretty expensive

Product image of Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus
Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus

This is one of the most popular pool vacuum robots out there. Less expensive than the flagship Premier model, this Dolphin vacuum still boasts wall-climbing capabilities, navigational smart tech, and an option for Wi-Fi connectivity so you can control it with an app.

It promises to clean your 50-foot pool in about two hours. Just drop it into your pool, let it go to work, and your pool will look great before you know it. Once it’s finished, it’s easy to empty and clean by removing the filter and spraying it down with your garden hose.

Pros

  • Great suction

  • Very easy to set up

Cons

  • Expensive

  • Heavy and hard to store

Product image of AIPER Seagull SE Cordless Robotic Pool Cleaner
AIPER Seagull SE Cordless Robotic Pool Cleaner

The Aiper Seagull is available at a pretty attractive price, and it’s totally cordless.

However, this pool vacuum robot does come with some compromises compared to the more expensive Dolphin cleaners. It doesn’t climb walls, for example, and it only cleans smaller debris from the pool floor, as opposed to larger leaves. But it’s a great, straightforward way to get your pool clean without breaking the bank (or cleaning your pool manually).

The battery should achieve a full charge after about two and a half hours of charging, and it’ll run for about 90 minutes of cleaning. It’s not recommended for pools with wrinkles in the lining, large slopes, or pools larger than 850 square feet.

Pros

  • Charges in about 2.5 hrs

  • Totally cordless

Cons

  • No wall climbing

Product image of WYBOT Cordless Robotic Pool Cleaner
WYBOT Cordless Robotic Pool Cleaner

This cordless robot vacuum from Wybot is a simple, inexpensive alternative to some of the pricier pool cleaners out there. It doesn’t look like much, and it lacks some of the bells and whistles you’d get with a bigger investment, but it’ll get your pool clean without any fuss. Its top-load filter design is similar to that of the Aiper Seagull; you simply lift the top cover and rinse it clean.

Where other robot pool vacuums might run for 90 minutes or three hours, this one takes closer to three or four hours for a full charge cycle. And it’ll run for about 50 or 60 minutes of cleaning time, so it’s probably ideal for smaller pools. Reviewers say it has a tendency to miss some of the pool floor on a single cycle, which sounds like a pain, but it’ll save you time and money.

Pros

  • User-friendly

  • Easy to clean

  • Extra affordable

Cons

  • No wall climbing

Product image of Intex 28005E ZX300 Deluxe Automatic Pool Cleaner
Intex 28005E ZX300 Deluxe Automatic Pool Cleaner

This inexpensive robotic pool cleaner requires an Intex pump with a flow rate of at least 1,600 gallons per hour. As such, it’s only meant for above-ground pools with 1.5-inch fittings. Like some of the other options on the market, it’s got dual rotating brushes as well as the ability to climb walls for a thorough, top-to-bottom cleaning.

Reviewers say this is a great pool vacuum robot, capable of vacuuming up fine debris and small leaves alike. The price point is attractive, but you’ll want to do some research and make certain it’s compatible with your pool before you pull the trigger; it’s made for very specific above-ground setups. If you need a conversion kit to turn 40-millimeter connections into 1.5-inch ones, there’s a bundle with those adapters. And there’s a wall-mount surface skimmer available, too.

Pros

  • Wall-climbing capabilities

  • Extra affordable

Cons

  • Limited compatibility

Product image of Zodiac G3 Automatic Suction-Side Pool Cleaner Vacuum
Zodiac G3 Automatic Suction-Side Pool Cleaner Vacuum

This automatic vacuum is fairly simple compared to many robotic pool cleaners. If you’re hesitant to invest in a more full-featured cleaner, this might be just what you’re looking for. It probably won’t pick up any larger debris, like sunken leaves, but it will automatically skim along your pool floor and vacuum up most dirt and such.

It’s got a simple diaphragm system you can open up and empty when it’s done vacuuming, but otherwise this is a low-maintenance, fire-and-forget approach to pool maintenance. It won’t clean the walls or surface of the pool like a Dolphin robotic pool cleaner would, but it’ll allow you to go much longer between manual cleanings with a net.

Pros

  • Simple, convenient cleaning

  • Extra affordable

Cons

  • No wall climbing
