What we like

Its cycles are reliable and effective

We loaded the LG Dlex6700B to test how well it dries.

The LG DLEX6700B did a solid job at drying across all of the cycles we tested.

The normal cycle removed 100% of water from a large load that consisted of 12 towels, two sheets, and a couple of pillowcases in 54 minutes, hitting a maximum temperature of 161°F, which is in the range we like to see for good clothes care. The Quick Dry cycle hit 100% dry fabric at 31 minutes, with a maximum temperature of 159°F.

Delicates only hit 93% dry, but it did so with a temperature of just 108°F, which means this dryer takes good care of your delicate clothes. All in all, we were impressed with the dryer’s performance across the board.

This LG dryer has all the cycles you need

A customized experience—that’s what the LG DLEX6700B brings to the table. The dryer has 10 different cycles including Normal, AI Dry, Bedding, Delicates, Towels, Quick Dry, Timed Dry, Power Dry, Permanent Press, and Steam Fresh. It also features additional customization options for dryness level and temperature level.

You may not be able to change levels for every cycle (ie. customize temperature on normal) but the cycles and cycle options still offer a great deal of overall customization.

It looks sleek and has an interface that’s simple to understand

Its design and user-friendly interface could set a standard for most modern air dryers.

We found the LG DLEX6700B to have an effective user interface and design.

The machine’s door swings open and closed lightly without risking smashed fingers. The drum size is solid and can fit a sizable load while also not being too much of a hassle to reach into. You can also turn on the drum light for easier low light visibility.

The machine’s touchpad buttons are responsive and have some nice feedback. The text on the spin wheel is generally easy to read. The lint trap is right inside the doorway, making it quite convenient to pull out and clean, and equally easy to reinstall.

Beyond its interface we think the machine simply looks attractive. The aesthetic of the machine is clean and sleek, the door itself is see-through and looks elegant with the black body of the unit.

Communication unlocks efficiency in this paired LG washer and dryer set

The LG ThinQ app enables connections between the The LG DLEX6700B and its companion washer.

Smart pairing is built right into this new LG washer and dryer set. The dryer pairs with its companion washer, the LG WM6700HBA, via the easily set up LG ThinQ app.

Pairing the two makes for more energy efficient laundry cycles. While both the DLEX6700B dryer and the LG WM6700HBA washer are Energy Star rated for their innate efficiency (the washer actually won Most Efficient in 2023) this pairing process further improves efficiency, ensuring the dryer sets the correct mode for the wash cycle and doesn’t waste energy.

Beyond pairing, with the LG ThinQ app you can remotely start the dryer with the cycle of your choice, check the progress, and pause it whenever you want.

What we don’t like

The backlight could be better

This machine gives you lots of customization options, with room for extra custom cycles. That said, unlike the majority of the control panel, this feature is a bit hard to use. The display for the custom options is responsive but the backlight is a bit dim and doesn’t offer any way to change it. In contrast, the main text on the spin wheel is entirely legible.

The smart pairing feature could do more

Beyond AI Dry and automatic cycle selection, pairing the dryer with the LG WM6700HBA washing machine doesn't seem to send much additional information. Outside of its main role, there doesn't seem to be all that many options for inter-appliance features in the LG washer-dryer set. This feels like a bit of a missed opportunity, since this functionality is baked right in.

What owners are saying

The LG DLEX6700B is quite new. So far it reviews well among owners. Online reviews from both Home Depot and Best Buy are mostly high so far. We’ll continue to monitor reviews and update when we have a clearer picture of customer response.

Warranty

The LG DLEX6700B features an LG 1-year parts and labor warranty that will have you covered in full for your first year with the machine. Afterwards, the unit features a 3-year drum warranty that will cover parts only.

This 3-year coverage of the drum makes us feel secure that the machine is built to last.

Should you buy the LG DLEX6700B dryer?

Yes. Its cycles are effective and its user interface and special features stand out

Many of the The LG DLEX6700B's features are accessible from a central dial.

It’s not for nothing that the LG DLEX6700B scored second overall in our tests, just behind the Maytag MED7230HW. While it isn’t quite perfect, the DLEX6700B isn't so far away. All-in-all, we think this machine does a good job in most every category we test.

The DLEX6700B might stand out for its aesthetics—the rich charcoal finish, minimalist (yet authoritative) controls, and chic styling of its drum door—but while all these design touches contribute, it’s as feature rich and intuitive to use as it is attractive.

While we have some qualms with the dimness of the control panel, and feel that LG could have gotten more out of the set’s smart pairing features, we felt very positive about this unit.

In the end, that smart pairing functionality does improve the machine’s efficiency, and that’s one of the better features you can ask for in a major appliance—saving energy and water as well as money.

With such a wide array of cycles and further customization options to augment them, an Energy Star award, an intuitive interface, and the aesthetics to boot, we think the DLEX6700B dryer is a great addition to most laundry rooms. Paired with its partner washer the set made our list of the best washer and dryer sets on the market.

If you're OK with a more traditional aesthetic, the Maytag MED7230HW delivers effectiveness at a lower price.
