From the streaming debut of "The Little Mermaid" to the upcoming return of "Loki," it's been a big year for Disney+ releases. Now, Pixar's latest offering, "Elemental," is making its way to the streaming service.
"Elemental," the story of a water elemental and a fire elemental who meet in Element City, is the 27th Pixar Animation Studios film. The rom-com debuted in theaters earlier this year in theaters, and its arrival to Disney+ this week marks its streaming debut.
What is 'Elemental' about?
Directed by Peter Sohn, "Elemental" takes place Element City, home to air, water, earth, and fire elementals who coexist in one metropolis. Fire elementals, the Lumens, arrive at the city when their daughter Ember (Leah Lewis) is born and open up a store called the Fireplace. Ember grows up working in the shop alongside her father—when a mishap summons Element City worker Wade Ripple (Mamoudou Athie), a water elemental, Ember's life is tossed into turmoil, as she and Wade begin to fall for one another.
The film stars Lewis and Athie alongside Catherine O'Hara, Ronnie del Carmen, Shila Ommi, Wendi McLendon-Covey, and more.

"Elemental" is now available for streaming on Disney+ as of this week, having arrived September 13, 2023.
